If you know me, you know I love a good mocktail and a healthy gut! This simple kombucha mocktail is covering both in one cup. This simple kombucha mocktail is refreshing and easy to switch up to make it your own.
What is kombucha?
Kombucha is a sweetened fermented black or green tea. It is by made using a SCOBY (culture of bacteria and yeast), sugar, tea, and time. The steeping takes 1-3 weeks (depending on the temperature). After the first brew, it is flavored with a similar process, which takes another week. Kombucha is inexpensive to create but is often store-bought.
Kombucha originated in China, but its popularity has spread worldwide over the years. It is known for its quality of probiotics and healthy bacteria that aid your gut.
What is a mocktail?
Mocktails, we love them, and we need more of them. If you haven’t jumped on the mocktail train, this is one you might not want to miss! Mocktails are faux cocktails using, juices, sodas, syrups, and faux liquors. They are everything good cocktails have, without the hangover.
What can you mix kombucha with?
Just bout anything! Kombucha is delicious with juices, ginger ale, or soda waters. Some mix kombucha to tone down the acidic flavor. But in this case, it’s mocktail time baby! For this recipe, I used GT’s trilogy. But you can use your favorite store-bought or homemade brew.
Let’s make this Kombucha Mocktail
Ingredients:
4oz Kombucha (I used GT’s trilogy)
4 oz Soda water
Juice from 1/2 a lemon
1/2 Cup Ice
Add all ingredients to a cup and stir. Add extra strawberries and lemon slices to feel a little fancy!
