Juicers have been trending in the kitchen for years now. The documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead was my first introduction to the juicing craze. Then I worked at a local juice shop in Columbus and learned about juicing, cleanses, and how to care for and create the best juice for optimal health. Having a daily juice has enormous health benefits. When you start your day with fresh juice, your body gets a boost of vitamins and nutrients. Since these nutrients are in juice form, the body doesn’t have to spend a ton of energy processing it, making you feel more energized and refreshed for the day.

The difference between a juicer and a blender:
If you’re deciding between a juicer or blender, check out this article to help you decide. It explains the pros and cons of each appliance. Powerful blenders can create recipes like nut butter, smoothies, salad dressings, soups, and more. However, the juicing process extracts juice from leafy greens, fresh fruits, and vegetables, leaving a juice full of nutrients and vitamins. The benefit of fresh juice is that your body quickly absorbs the vitamins from the fruit and vegetables. It’s a great way to absorb vitamins while using less energy to process food.
DON’T MISS A BEET
Types of juicers:
There are two main different types of juicers a high-speed juicer and a slow cold press juicer. (or slow masticating juicer) There are also manual juicers/citrus juicers for citrus, however, for the sake of this article we’re going to focus on electric juicers. High-speed juicers process fruits and vegetables at a fast rate and higher speed, which kills the nutrients and vitamins in the food. Since high-speed juicers work so fast, the juice oxidizes quickly losing even more nutrients. When you juice with a high-speed juicer, you must drink it within 24 hours to benefit from it. A cold-pressed juicer uses a slower speed to juice whole fruits and vegetables. When using a slower speed, the fruits and vegetables keep their nutrients and vitamins. This causes the juice to oxidize at a much slower rate and the juice will last up to four days in the refrigerator. I love using my cold press juicer to make up to a gallon of juice at a time and drinking it throughout the next few days.
High-speed/centrifugal juicer: Works at a high speed destroying the nutrients in the fruits and leafy vegetables.
Cold press/masticating juicer: processes at a low speed allowing the nutrients to stay in the juice, allowing the juice to stay fresh for up to four days.
Since a cold press juicer is best for your fresh produce and juicing experience, this article will focus on the best affordable juicers in the category. Don’t worry you’ll find the best choice no matter your price tag.

Things to consider:
Before purchasing a juicer there are a few things to consider, for example; how much you want to spend on a juicer, do you mind juicing every day, whether you would prefer a small feed or a large one, how much counter space you need and if they are dishwasher safe.
How much you want to spend on a juicer: Consider how much you want to spend on a juicer. No matter your price range there is a juicer for everyone.
Counter space: If you don’t have much counter space or storage, go for a compact design that fits in small spaces. Luckily, now there are juicers with this feature.
Dishwasher-safe parts: Nowadays, most kitchen appliances are dishwasher-safe. However, it’s always best to check before putting them in the dishwasher. A dishwasher can cause some wear and tear as you use your juicer. To keep that from happening, simply brush the food residue on the juicer off with mild soap and a cleaning brush. Then rinse the parts and let them air dry. Run it through the dishwasher 1-2 times a month, depending on how often you’re juicing.
Prep time: Prep time is important to consider. If you don’t want to spend a ton of time on prep, a juicer with a wide chute or hopper is an excellent choice.
Wide feed cute: If you don’t want to spend much time prepping. Get a juicer with a wide chute feed, I suggest at least 4 inches wide. which is big enough for a whole apple without cutting it.
Ease of use and easy cleaning: Some juicers have a ton of small pieces. If you want an easier cleanup, get one with fewer cleaning parts to make the process speedy.

Another Name J2 dupe. This one is easy to clean but doesn’t come with the extra juicer-catching containers.space saver.
The Cheapest Juicer: Elite Gourmet Cold Press Juicer

Other ways to find cheap juicers:
If you like the idea of juicing but don’t want to take the full plunge, I get it. I was the same way, I bought an inexpensive Breville juicer similar to this one from a friend and used it for a few years before getting a cold-pressed juicer. It was not a cold-pressed juicer, so the juice didn’t last as long. However, it was a great beginner juicer for me. I loved experimenting with different recipes and figuring out if I would make juicing a daily part of life. Once I wanted to commit and you can score inexpensive juicers:
Appliance resale shops: If you have a local reuse store you may find juicers there. Typically finding a juicer here means that it’s in decent condition, has all the necessary parts, and has been checked to ensure it works. If you happen upon a juicer in one of these shops you can look it up online and check reviews to see if it’s a good fit for you. Check the return policy with the store if you don’t like it when you get home. Buying in one of these stores is a great option, but it may cost a little more than finding one at a thrift store.
Thrift Stores: Finding a juicer at a thrift store might be a little harder, but it’s not impossible. Always keep an eye open for one at the thrift store. If you do find one, make sure to look it over for missing parts and look up the juicer online to see what reviews it has. Check with an employee to see if you can plug it in and ensure it works appropriately.
Facebook marketplace: This is probably the best place to find a gently used juicer. If you see a juicer you’d like to purchase online, check Facebook Marketplace first. Again, before purchasing a juicer on market place look up reviews for it and check it for missing parts. Check to see if it’s working before purchasing. This could be a great way to get juicing in your daily routine without breaking the bank.
Friends or family: This is another great way to find a juicer! I bought my first juicer from a friend and used it for a few years before passing it along to another friend. Friends and family would be able to give insight into the juicer you getting which will make it easier for your first few uses.
Blender: If you’re not having any luck with finding the right juicer you can always try a blender. When blending to juice, add two cups of water or more if needed and blend until the ingredients are completely broken down. Then strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer to remove the extra pulp and smaller pieces.

Conclusion:
As you can see there are several ways and juicers you can get that are affordable. Before taking the plunge, step back and weigh out your priorities for a juicer and your everyday life. What’re the most you want to spend on a juicer? Does the noise level matter? Do you mind spending time cutting up ingredients or would you rather have a wide-chute? If you want to batch juice, then go for a cold-press juicer. If you don’t mind juicing each day, go for an inexpensive one, even if it’s a high-speed juicer. No matter what you’ll find the right one for you.
