Ingredients and their health benefits:
Peanuts: Peanuts are a great source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. They also contain vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium.
Common Questions:
Why make my own peanut butter?
- Store bought Nut butters contain unnecessary oils and sugar that contribute to poor health. When you make your own you’ll save money and avoid unhealthy additives.
Is homemade peanut butter healthier?
- Absolutely! Again, when making your peanut butter you control how much sugar and salt goes into it. And you can avoid oil altogether.
What kind of peanuts should I use:
- Use dry roasted unsalted peanuts. I usually get mine from Trader Joe’s. If you use raw peanuts it’ll take over 30 minutes to create the peanut butter and run quite a number on your blender. Always go for unsalted because it’s easier to add salt than take it out. I have tried using salted and lightly salted peanuts before and it was still too salty.

Tips and tricks:
- Make sure you use dry-roasted peanuts. If they are raw, it will take over 30 minutes for peanuts to become butter, nobody has time for that.
- I suggest using unsalted or lightly salted peanuts. Salted peanuts have too much salt and ruin the flavor of the peanut butter. If you want salt, add it in while it’s blending start with one teaspoon, and add more if you prefer.
- If you want a sweeter peanut butter honey, pure maple syrup or dates are great options. Start with a small amount, one date, or one tablespoon of liquid sweetener, and add more until you find your preferred sweetness.

How to create homemade peanut butter!
Equipment:
High-Speed blender
Mason jar
Ingredients:
2 cups of unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1 tablespoon of liquid sweetener (honey or pure maple syrup) Or one date, optional
1 teaspoon of sea salt, optional
Preparation:
Put the peanuts in the blender and blend on the lowest speed for 1-4 minutes or until the peanuts break down and the nut butter begins to form. As the nut butter beings to take form very slowly increase the speed of the blender. Allow it to blend for about a minute before increasing again. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides when necessary. Repeat this process until you have the texture of the peanut butter you want. I like smooth drippy peanut butter and it takes about ten minutes.
