Transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle shouldn’t be overwhelming. I’m here to help with that!
One the of main reasons I love living a plant-based lifestyle is because it’s simple. Simple ingredients, simple recipes, and simple real nutrients. I don’t have to think too hard about my meal prep each week and most ingredients are perfect for mixing and matching. Typically, after a grocery trip, I carve out time to prep the fresh foods. I’ll wash, cut, and store the fruits and veggies. Sometimes make a big batch of brown rice or another grain in my pressure cooker. This always serves well as a bowl, taco, or burrito base.

When we simplify, we remove the noise and receive peace. This is true for all areas of life.
Here’s a simple guide to Plant-Based kitchen essentials. This is what I use in the kitchen every. single. day.
Sharp knives: I’ll be honest. I threw out my big mega knife set several years ago and have not looked back! I use two knives now, a chef’s knife, and a paring knife. I do have a bread knife that I occasionally use for sourdough loaves. This 8 inch chef’s knife is a great staple for the kitchen.
Solid cutting board: I use a cutting board that was a wedding gift from a friend, but this one is comparable. A cutting board is a must. I use mine every day, all the time. It’s the most used tool in my kitchen. When going plant-based we spend a lot of time chopping veggies and fruits. While it may seem time-consuming, treat it as a moment to relax. To connect with the food you’re creating, take deep breaths, turn on your favorite tunes, and chill.
High-speedblender: Why? let’s put it this way, I’ve had my Vitamix for 4 years, and she’s still going strong. I make nut butter, smoothies, smoothie bowls, soups, vegan cheese, baby foods, cheesecake, and more. Most days I use to twice, if not three times a day. So is it worth it? Yes, 1,00%.
But I get it, not everyone wants to jump all in. Here are a couple of other options that are great starters!
Don’t miss a beet!
Glass storage: I have a few Pyrex storage sets I use for fresh fruit and vegetable storage, along with leftovers each week. I love glass because the produce stays fresh longer. Here are my faves: That’s it! Having these five tools in your kitchen gives you endless options for your plant-based journey.
